Vision Statement

To provide opportunities for all of our children to experience, enjoy and excel in high quality P.E and school sport. Allowing them to learn about themselves and the importance of self-belief, honesty, respect, passion, team work and determination.

Intent Statement

At Hornsea Burton and Skipsea Primary Schools, we aim to provide a PE curriculum that children not only enjoy but also allows them to experience a range of activities that help them to develop their health, fitness, and wellbeing. We intend to offer a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all children to succeed and excel in sport and other physically demanding activities. It provides opportunities for children to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to participate in healthy competitive sport and other activities that build traits and embed values such as resilience, cooperation, pride and respect.

Our curriculum for PE aims to ensure that all children:

● Develop competence to excel in a broad range of sport and physical activities.

● Are physically active for sustained periods.

●Engage in competitive sports and activities and lead healthy, active lives.

School Partnership

We are proud to be a part of the School Sport Partnership (The SSP). We use their values in our P.E lessons to help with a positive attitude and support with emotional wellbeing. Our children who display our P.E and School Sport values will receive a certificate on a Friday during the Time2Shine assembly. During the 2021/2022 academic year we were awarded the GOLD award from The SSP for committing to extracurricular classes and school sport events. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities in Sport from Tchoukball to Dance which provides a range of new experiences and builds on knowledge learnt from P.E. We are committed to providing children with the recommended 60-minutes of physical activity a day. We have recently installed two Daily Mile Tracks at the schools which provides a safe surface to complete their 15-minute daily mile throughout the academic year.
